Music Food & Art

I have been thinking about music, food and art.......well since forever!  I have been excited recently to find WBACH (96.9 and 106.9 FM) back on the radio and while driving North from Boston last week I found a quiet relaxation listening to classical music stream from the car speakers!  I was lost, literally! And I had my childhood friend's children with me in the car and I did NOT want them to know we were LOST!  As we traveled through the dark night with lightning lighting up the sky ahead I listened and tried to recognize how many instruments I heard!  I was brought back to one of those spectacular moments in life when I was in a kindergarten music class and the teacher played the most incredible music and asked us to identify as many instruments as we could!  She had all of those instruments in the classroom for us to touch and play and I remember the joy I felt listening to the music!  We found our way back to my friends house and I felt grateful that music (and lightning) lit our path!

Since then I have been thinking more about my art.  As an artist I am keenly aware of the layers upon layers of material that go into my creations.  My mind is always thinking "should I choose this fabric"......."how about this glaze".......and more often than not the choice is made because of what surrounds the piece.  I can never really know if "THAT" fabric will make the best binding and most certainly what glaze might be the "BEST" for each piece of pottery!  It is a process that happens because of being CREATIVE.

As I work on quieting my mind tonight I am also reminded of how layers of flavor create the most amazing dishes of food!  This blog has been in my mind for some time.  Thinking about music and the different instruments I hear and also the components of my art creations.  And just after I watched the 11 o'clock news I found a nice reminder of the flavor of FOOD in the movie No Reservations.  As Catherine Zeta-Jones sips a spoonful of something yummy while blindfolded she begins to describe all the ingredients she tastes! Cognac, white wine, celery, leek, shallots and garlic YUMMY!

So off to bed thinking about the 2 heads of cauliflower and gruyere cheese in my fridge waiting for me to whip up cream of cauliflower soup!  And wondering if the green fabric I have for the binding of the baby blueberry quilts will work?

Life being creative is a gift and I am super grateful!
